I want to save the world, but I don’t know how

One day it hit me. Like a brick wall. It made me sick to my stomach. Where is all this trash going? What is the final destination for all these things that we need?

I was watching the garbage truck dump the overfilled dumpster into its compactor and my heart sank, I was contributing to that and I call myself an environmentalist.

I use the term need loosely because, honestly, do we really need all this stuff? Eventually it will become obsolete and buried under the earth, a grave yard for everything we use to want. Something bigger and better is already in development. We are mindless consumers. We buy things because we are told that we need them, that these things will improve our quality of life. Our constant need to consume is an endless black hole, but our landfills are not.

I’m here to inspire others. You can make a difference and you can be the change.

I have embarked on A Zero Waste Journey and I want to invite you to join me. Together we can make small changes in our everyday lives that will lead to a more sustainable lifestyle for ourselves and for generations after us. This journey isn’t supposed to be perfect; it is meant to be personal.

On this journey I aim to consume less, reduce my use, re-purpose items that I have, recycle as a last resort, and compost my biodegradable items. Using these core values I will cover content that you can apply in your own life including zero waste alternatives to every day products, DIY projects, product reviews, and more!

I’m new at this. I don’t have a jar that I keep a years’ worth of trash in, I still have plastics in my home, and I don’t live the model “Zero Waste” lifestyle (yet). I’m just a normal 23 year old living on a budget. It’s going to be a slow process, but I’m going to show you that anyone can do this, not just eco warriors, and we’re going to try and save the world one choice at a time.
